Biography


Ms. Schroder is a founding partner in the law firm of Schröder, Joseph and Associates, LLP (SJA), where she practices management side labor and employment law.  For the last seven years she has been ranked as the only woman in the Top 10 Attorneys in Upstate New York and for over a decade she been ranked as one of the Top 25 Women Lawyers in Upstate New York by New York Super Lawyers.  She is listed in Best Lawyers in America and she is AV rated by Martindale Hubbell.

Ms. Schroder is counsel to numerous Fortune 500 companies, including those in the top 10.  She is recognized annually in “Who’s Who among Western New York Lawyers” for Labor and Employment Law (changed to The Legal Elite of Western New York), and she was a Business First, 40 under Forty Honoree, a Leader (Professional) Nominee and the recipient of the Society for Human Resource Management’s award for Outstanding Human Resource Professional.  Fifteen years ago, Ms. Schroder was honored by the Western New York Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association for the State of New York as the recipient of the Hon. M. Delores Denman Award for Lifetime Achievement.

She represents large and small private and public sector clients in the areas of collective bargaining, contract grievance arbitration and proceedings before Federal and State agencies and courts dealing with discrimination, harassment, civil rights, various statutory employee rights, wage and hour, NLRA and PERB issues, ERISA rights, reduction in work force, separation agreement and OWBPA issues, wrongful discharge and related claims.  She has extensive experience in sexual harassment and gender discrimination litigation and litigation regarding terms and conditions of employment and wage issues in both state and federal courts.

In addition to her law practice, Ms. Schroder is a Cattaraugus County Legislator and she has been a medical professional for well over a decade, serving as an Emergency Medical Technician for the Franklinville Fire Department, and as a certified instructor for the American Heart Association and for Cattaraugus County in CPR/AED and First Aid.  She and her husband Mark Heberling own and operate a heritage and exotic poultry farm in the Southern Tier.
